Frequently Asked Questions

About These Packages

Which package is right for me?

If you do not own a business, Package One. If you own a business and your books are not currently in good order, Package Two. If your books are clean and you believe you are overpaying, Package Three — that is where planning begins. Packages Four and Five are for owners who need strategies executed and a financial partner year-round. Your consultation settles it in a few minutes.

What is the difference between Package Two and Package Three? The price nearly triples.

Packages One and Two keep you compliant. Package Three changes what you owe. Below Package Three we are reporting history accurately; at Package Three we deliver a written tax plan with the dollar savings named on every strategy. That plan is the product, and it is why the investment steps up.

What does “starting at” mean? Will my price be higher?

Each package has a defined scope — entity count, states, transaction volume, owners, and filing complexity. Most engagements land at or near the stated figure. If your situation exceeds the scope, we tell you the number before any work begins. You will never receive a surprise invoice.

Why is everything billed monthly when my tax return is annual?

Because the return is the output, not the service. Waiting until March to look at your year eliminates nearly every option that would have saved you money. Monthly engagement is what makes the projection, the mid-year adjustment, and the planning possible.

Does bookkeeping really come with Package Two and above?

Yes — monthly bookkeeping, reconciliation, and financial statements are included from Package Two upward and carry forward through every package above it. It is not an add-on. Planning cannot be done on books we do not trust.

I already have a bookkeeper. Can I skip that portion?

We will discuss it at consultation. In most cases the answer is no, because our planning depends on books maintained to our standard and closed on our schedule. Where a client has an established internal bookkeeper, we scope an oversight arrangement instead.

What is the free review of my last two returns?

Before you commit to anything, we examine your two most recent filed returns and tell you what was missed, in dollars. There is no fee and no obligation. It is the most useful hour you can spend with us, and it tells both of us whether we are a fit.

When do you represent me before the IRS, and when do you not?

Packages One through Three include assistance with IRS and state notices — we review the notice, explain what it means, and tell you exactly what needs to be done. Taxpayer representation is a separate engagement at those levels.

Representation is included beginning at Package Four, covering examinations and notices on returns we prepared during your engagement.

What if I already have an IRS problem?

Liens, levies, back taxes, unfiled returns, offers in compromise, and installment agreements are handled as a separate engagement rather than inside a monthly package. Those matters are driven by history rather than by the return we file, and they deserve their own scope and their own fee.

Call (877) 375-8683.

Why are setup fees, plan fees, and study fees not included?

We include the analysis and the judgment. We do not include third-party costs we do not control — state filing fees, registered agent fees, retirement plan setup and administration, attorney drafting, cost segregation studies, and formal valuations. Bundling those would mean charging every client for services only some of them use.

Can I move between packages?

Yes. Most clients begin lower and move up as their situation develops. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at your renewal date so that work already underway is completed properly.

Is there a minimum commitment?

Engagements run for twelve months. Tax planning is a full-year exercise, and a plan built in March produces most of its results in the second half of the year.

Who actually does my work? Do I work with Aleksey directly?

Every engagement is built on Aleksey’s framework and delivered under his standards. Strategy engagements — Packages Three, Four, and Five — are led by him directly. Packages One and Two are delivered by the firm under his review, which is what allows us to offer them at that level.

What happens if my business grows past the package scope?

We tell you. Exceeding the stated scope triggers a conversation and a written change order, never a silent invoice. Growing past your package is a good problem, and it usually means the next package is already earning its cost.

Do you only work with clients in Florida?

No. We are a virtual firm serving clients in all 50 states, and Aleksey is licensed in both Florida and New York.

What if I only need a tax return prepared and nothing else?

We are not a once-a-year preparation service, and we are candid about that. Even Package One is planning-led — the projection and the two planning calls are the service; the return is the output. If a filing-only engagement is what you need, we are glad to point you toward a firm better suited to it.

What is a Certified Tax Coach and how is it different from a regular CPA?

A Certified Tax Coach (CTC) is a CPA who has completed post-licensure training in proactive tax planning strategy, not merely tax preparation. Aleksey Kaplan, CPA holds the CTC, Certified Tax Planner (CTP), and Certified Tax Strategist (CTS) designations. Fewer than one percent of U.S. CPAs carry all three. What is the difference between a tax preparer and a strategic tax planning CPA?

A tax preparer records what already happened during the prior year. A strategic tax planning CPA works with you throughout the year to change what will happen — using entity structure, timing, compensation design, and IRS-approved planning strategies. A Kaplan CPA, P.C. delivers a written tax plan starting at Package Three, with the dollar savings named on every strategy before implementation.
